Gigi’s Pilates Studio & Personal Training does not use a one-size-fits-all fitness approach. In addition to being the largest STOTT PILATES™ facility in the Midwest and the only fully-equipped STOTT PILATES Licensed Training Center in Iowa, we have added a number of exciting (we think) new offerings — KRUSH™, CURL™, TRX® Suspension Training®, and Zumba® — to help you achieve and maintain a lifelong healthy lifestyle. Come join the party at GPS, where we’ll help you navigate to a better YOU!
CURL™ — Change UR Life — is designed just for overweight youngsters in grades 3 through 8 who are not involved in extracurricular, league or school-organized fitness activities or sports.GPS has a unique brand of help for overweight children only they can provide. Gigi Filer, along with her husband Rodney Filer, an NFL/AFL veteran, a team licensed medical and nutrition professionals, and the rest of the GPS family — all certified personal trainers — are combining their unparalleled insight, skills and knowledge to deliver CURL.
What does CURL involve? Here are the details:
KRUSH™ is a weight loss, fitness, health and nutritional program designed for adults who have 50 pounds or more to lose. We understand taking off weight and keeping it off requires a program you can maintain for a lifetime while still living your daily life.
We know there are too many choices in the Des Moines area offering “solutions” to help you lose weight. But none of those gyms or studios has what GPS has. What you ask? Don’t you mean WHO?
GPS is Gigi and Rodney Filer, the trainers who whipped the season 8 at-home $100,000 winner of “The Biggest Loser,” Rebecca Meyer, into shape. For KRUSH, they are joined by a team of licensed medical and nutrition professionals, and the GPS certified personal trainers, who know what it takes to help you lose the weight safely and permanently. Together they are uniquely qualified to help you with your weight loss journey, teaching you how to embrace the lifelong behaviors of fitness and sound nutrition — not just for six, 10 or 12 weeks — but forever.
KRUSH is not for everyone. It requires unconditional dedication. But what you’ll get from GPS in return is the 24/7 support to help you succeed in developing behaviors that will help you lose pounds and maintain your weight loss for a lifetime.
What does KRUSH involve? Here are some details:
We want to maintain a low trainer-to-participant ratio in the KRUSH program at all times, which means only 16 participants are in the program every 12 weeks. Because space is so limited, participants must call or visit GPS to talk with the trainers about their situation and their readiness to start and their commitment to change.
Participants also are required to complete and submit the GPS Health History, which includes a signed doctor’s release before beginning the KRUSH program.
Tired of working out and eating right and still not getting the results you want? Or, are you new to fitness and don’t know where to begin? Achieve all of your goals with the help of a trainer! Receive a customized workout designed specifically for you, and experience the difference knowledgeable, skilled and certified trainers can make.

All of the instructors at GPS have completed various comprehensive training programs that have met the requirements set forth by STOTT PILATES™. We currently offer several ways to practice STOTT PILATES including small group mat classes (no appointment required), private/semi-private/small group sessions with the mat, Reformer, Cadillac Wall Unit and Stability Chair (by appointment only). GPS now has an Intro to Pilates Equipment small group class that meets two times a week for two weeks for $99, which will get you acquainted with all the equipment in a short period of time so you can join the fun.
STOTT PILATES exercise is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Cofounders Moira and Lindsay G. Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent more than two decades refining the STOTT PILATES method of exercise and equipment. This resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and effective methods available. This clear and detailed approach forms the basis for STOTT PILATES training and certification programs. It’s used by rehab and prenatal clients, athletes, celebrities and everyone in between.
With an emphasis on breathing, core conditioning and body awareness, STOTT PILATES exercise is a safe and highly-effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints.
Performed on a mat or specialized equipment, STOTT PILATES exercise is a fitness regime for a lifetime. The perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise, sport, rehab and life, STOTT PILATES exercises will leave you looking toned, feeling revitalized and moving with ease.
The Pink Ribbon Program™ is a series of modified Pilates exercises designed to help breast cancer survivors improve the range of motion in their arms, shoulders and other areas affected following breast cancer surgery. The Pink Ribbon Program is carefully customized and designed for each participant every step along the way, no matter where they are in the recovery process. Go here for more information on The Pink Ribbon Program or contact Gigi Filer today to schedule a free one-on-one consultation.
Once you try TRX, you’ll be hooked. Gigi’s Pilates Studio & Personal Training is home to the only large group TRX Suspension Training system in Iowa. What is it? TRX Suspension Training is a revolutionary method of leveraged exercise that utilizes bodyweight and gravity to create variable resistance. TRX is for participants of all ages and fitness levels. It uses ground-based exercises ranging from gentle rehabilitation to high-performance training to build power, strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, all while also preventing injuries. GPS Suspension Training programs are applicable in individual, group training and boot camp settings of varying intensities.
Suspension Training evolved from the military and was introduced to the marketplace in 2006. Former Navy SEAL squadron commander and CEO of Fitness Anywhere® Randy Hetrick created the TRX Suspension Trainer for maintaining peak physical condition while deployed in the most remote and resource-deprived parts of the world. As Hetrick saw increasing enthusiasm among his friends both in uniform and out, it became clear this new way of working out was not just a tool for military personnel, but a highly effective athletic training and mainstream fitness solution all within a single training station.

GPS wants you to get in touch with your inner fiery Latin! Zumba® fuses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that doesn’t even seem like exercise… just a lot of fun! Zumba is exciting, calorie-burning, body-energizing, and movement-filled that helps participants achieve long-term benefits.
The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got a Zumba class!
Where did Zumba originate? Celebrity fitness trainer "Beto" Perez, a native of Cali, Colombia, stumbled upon the concept of Latin-inspired dance-fitness in the mid-‘90s after having forgotten the traditional aerobics music he usually used for his class.
